Reveal

A centrally managed touchscreen platform used in gaming venues around New Zealand.

Reveal touchscreen showing venue information panels

The starting point

Reveal gives gaming venues a touchscreen for customer information and rotating content. The operator needed to manage every screen from one place, without sending someone to each venue whenever content changed or a device needed attention.

What the platform had to handle

Unreliable connections

The venues use ordinary business broadband in buildings the operator does not control. A screen still needs to work while its connection is down, then catch up safely when it returns.

Remote support

There is no engineer at the venue. Updates and recovery need to be handled remotely, without asking venue staff to troubleshoot the device.

Changes across every venue

Content and configuration are managed centrally. A change needs to reach every screen, including any that happened to be offline when it was published.

What we built

Each screen stores what it needs locally and runs on its own, then synchronises with the platform when it reconnects. Content and configuration are pushed from the cloud, so a change is made once and reaches every venue without a visit.

Updates can be prepared and rolled out centrally. The operator has one place to manage the network, while each venue has enough software and content stored locally to keep serving customers.

Where it is now

Reveal is deployed and running in gaming venues around New Zealand.

Software for sites you do not control

The same challenge appears wherever software runs on devices at remote sites. Retail, logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing systems all need clear rules for what a device can do by itself, how it recovers, and how changes are managed from a distance.
