GenTwo

Modernising a display platform used by gaming venues while the existing service stays in use.

GenTwo jackpot display showing Grand and Major jackpot totals

The starting point

GenTwo runs screens in gaming venues that show current jackpot totals and recognise recent winners. The platform has been in service for years, but it had become difficult to support and risky to change as its technology aged.

The constraint

The existing service still needs to run while the replacement is built. A single large switchover would concentrate the risk, so the work is being divided into stages that can be tested and released separately.

What we are doing

We are first mapping the behaviour and connections the current platform depends on, then replacing one part at a time. The new system is designed to be easier to operate, test, and change without interrupting the venues that rely on it.

Modernising without a big-bang rewrite

An ageing system does not always need to be replaced in one move. Staged modernisation can reduce risk, preserve the parts that still work, and create useful improvements before the whole programme is complete.
